In the heart of Monrovia, Liberia, our team stepped into one of the most desperate places we’ve ever seen – a vast cemetery where hundreds of people battling drug addiction live in makeshift shelters. The atmosphere was heavy. Some were even seen smoking crushed human bones. Yet in that place of deep darkness, the light of the Gospel broke through.

As we shared the message of Jesus, many responded – some gave their lives to Christ, others experienced healing. That’s when we met Irene.

She’s 25 years old, four months pregnant, addicted to drugs, and surviving through prostitution. Her eyes told the story of exhaustion and pain. Gently, we asked her if she wanted to leave this life behind and begin again. She said yes. Right there in the cemetery, Irene surrendered her life to Jesus – and experienced His healing power.

What happened next was remarkable. Irene, now full of new hope, led our team out of the slum. She hadn’t eaten in days, so we made sure she received a warm meal and new clothes.

Providentially, a local pastor had just launched a new rehabilitation center for women – offering a safe space for recovery, healing, and discipleship. That’s where we brought Irene. She’s now receiving care, support, and spiritual guidance as she begins building a new life with Jesus at the center.
